Build the flag tray
- Use a large rectangular wooden board, sheet pan, or serving tray to lay out your design area.
- In the upper left corner, fill a rectangle densely with blueberries to form the canton.
- Create the red stripes by arranging rows of halved strawberries and folded pepperoni slices across the length of the board.
- Fill in the white stripes with rows of white cheddar cubes and crackers alternating between the red rows.
- Use pretzel sticks to define the stripe borders if needed for clean lines.
- Place a small bowl of cream cheese or ranch dip in one corner, tuck rosemary sprigs at the edges, and serve immediately.
Notes
Pro tip: for sharp-looking stripes, halve strawberries uniformly and keep the canton tightly packed so the blue area stays clearly defined. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 2 days, but assemble right before serving for the best texture. Freezing is not recommended because berries and crackers lose structure. If you need a dairy-light option, use a dairy-free cream cheese or ranch-style dip and swap the cheese cubes for a dairy-free melty alternative (leave the crackers and pretzels the same).
