Ingredients

  • 24 Oreo cookies Keep cream filling intact on one side of each cookie.
  • 12 large marshmallows Use large marshmallows so they roast to golden brown and stay gooey.
  • 1 Roasting sticks For threading and holding marshmallows over the heat.

Equipment

  • 1 roasting sticks

Method

Prep the cookies and marshmallows
  1. Separate the Oreo cookies, keeping the cream filling intact on one side of each cookie.
  2. Thread the marshmallows onto roasting sticks.
Roast and assemble
  1. Roast the marshmallows over campfire until golden brown and gooey, turning as needed to prevent scorching and watching closely.
  2. Place each roasted marshmallow on one Oreo cookie half and top with another cookie half to sandwich.
  3. Press gently to spread the marshmallow so it oozes slightly at the edges.
Cool and serve
  1. Let the Oreo s'mores cool for 1 minute before eating so the marshmallow sets just enough to hold together.

Notes

Pro tip: roast marshmallows in short, close passes over the campfire so they turn golden and stay soft rather than drying out. Store assembled s’mores at room temperature in a covered container for up to 1 day (best within hours). Freezing is not recommended because the cookies lose texture when thawed. For a dietary swap, use dairy-free chocolate-style sandwich cookies and dairy-free marshmallows if you want a non-dairy version.
