Method

Coat the Chex
  1. Measure Chex cereal into a very large bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt white chocolate chips and butter together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until completely smooth.
  3. Pour melted white chocolate over the Chex and stir gently until every piece is evenly coated.
Powder sugar dusting
  1. Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-lock bag, add powdered sugar, seal, and shake vigorously until all pieces are well coated.
Cool and set
  1. Spread onto a parchment-lined sheet pan and let cool for 30 minutes until set, with the surface looking dry and matte.
Finish and serve
  1. Transfer to a large bowl and toss with red and blue M&Ms and star sprinkles, then serve in a big bowl or individual bags.

Notes

Pro tip: Spread the coated Chex in a single even layer so it sets uniformly in 30 minutes. Store airtight in the fridge up to 3 days; bring to room temperature before serving for the best crunch. Freezing is not recommended because the candy coatings can get sticky after thawing. For a dairy-free swap, use dairy-free white chocolate chips and dairy-free butter.
