Ingredients

Caramel popcorn
  • 4 cup caramel popcorn
Pretzels
  • 2 cup pretzels or pretzel sticks
Mixed nuts or peanuts
  • 1 cup mixed nuts or peanuts
Candy corn
  • 1 cup candy corn
Autumn M&Ms
  • 1 cup autumn M&Ms or orange and yellow candy-coated chocolate
Chocolate chips or fall-colored chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or fall-colored chips
Corn Chex cereal
  • 1 cup corn Chex cereal
White chocolate
  • 0.25 cup white chocolate, melted (for drizzle)
Orange food coloring
  • 1 orange food coloring (optional for white chocolate)

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan
  • 1 parchment

Method

Mix the base
  1. In a large bowl, combine caramel popcorn, pretzels, mixed nuts, corn Chex cereal, and chocolate chips.
  2. Toss until the dry mix looks evenly distributed, with no large clumps of caramel popcorn.
Melt and drizzle
  1. Melt the white chocolate until smooth, then tint orange with orange food coloring if desired.
  2. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the snack mix so it forms thin streaks across the surface.
Set and finish
  1. Spread the mix on a parchment-lined sheet in a single layer and let set for 10 minutes, until the drizzle looks dry and matte.
  2. Break apart any larger pieces and fold in the candy corn and autumn M&Ms so the candies are mixed through evenly.
Store
  1. Transfer the scarecrow crunch snack mix to an airtight container and store up to 1 week.

Notes

Pro tip: melt white chocolate gently and stop as soon as it’s smooth—overheating can make it seize. Store airtight in the pantry for up to 1 week; do not freeze since candies can lose texture. For a gluten-free swap, use gluten-free pretzels or pretzel sticks to keep the same sweet-salty crunch.
